Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy: A foundation of safety and regulation.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) is a gentle, hands-on therapy that works with the nervous system.

Using light, still contact (about the weight of a nickel), I listen through my hands to areas of tension or restriction in the body. Rather than forcing change, this work supports your body’s own ability to regulate, unwind, and restore balance.

At its core, this therapy is about helping the nervous system shift out of stress and into safety. When the nervous system feels safe, healing happens more easily.

What to Expect During a Session

Sessions are quiet and deeply restful.

You remain fully clothed, lying comfortably on a treatment table (or holding your baby). I place my hands gently on areas such as the head, sacrum, diaphragm, or feet. There is no manipulation, cracking, or force.

Many clients experience:

 •    A deep sense of calm
 •    Slower breathing
•    Subtle warmth
•    Softening in the body
•    Emotional release
•    Falling asleep

For babies, sessions look like:

•    Being held by a parent
•    Feeding during treatment
•    Sleeping
•    Gentle settling after fussiness

How BCST Supports the Nervous System

Stress, birth, injury, illness, and even everyday life can leave the nervous system in a protective state — often called “fight, flight, or freeze.”

When this state becomes chronic, it can show up as:

    •    Tension patterns

    •    Sleep challenges

    •    Digestive issues

    •    Anxiety

    •    Hormonal imbalance

    •    Difficulty settling (in babies)

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy supports the shift toward the parasympathetic state — the “rest, digest, and repair” branch of the nervous system. As regulation improves, the body can release held tension, improve sleep, support digestion, reduce inflammation, and improve mood and resilience.

For Mothers

Pregnancy, birth, and postpartum are profound nervous system events. Whether birth was empowering, fast, long, surgical, or overwhelming — your body holds the experience.

  •     •    Birth recovery (vaginal or cesarean)

        •    Pelvic tension and core integration

        •    Hormonal regulation

        •    Anxiety and overwhelm

        •    Sleep challenges

        •    Processing birth experiences

        •    Nervous system reset after a high-stress season

  •     •    More grounded

        •    Clearer in their thinking

        •    Less reactive

        •    More present with their baby

    • A greater sense of safety and ease in their body

    • Improved emotional regulation

    • More capacity to respond rather than react

    • Feeling less “on edge”

    • A deeper sense of connection to themselves

For Babies

Birth is a baby’s first major nervous system event.

Even smooth births involve significant compression, movement, and adaptation. Long labour, fast labour, inductions, cesareans, or assisted deliveries can sometimes leave babies holding tension in their system.

    • Baby remains fully clothed

    • Baby may rest in a parent’s arms or lie comfortably on the table

    • Gentle, still contact is offered at areas such as the head, sacrum, feet, or torso

    • There is no manipulation, pressure, or forcing of movement

    • Sessions pause as needed for feeding, diaper changes, or soothing

    • Parents are encouraged to stay close and engaged throughout

  •  •    Colic or excessive crying

        •    Feeding or latch challenges

        •    Reflux or digestive discomfort

        •    Torticollis or head-turn preference

        •    Sleep difficulties

        •    Difficulty settling

        •    Tension patterns in the body

    • Easier settling and soothing

    • Deeper, more restful sleep

    • Improved feeding comfort

    • A calmer, more regulated baby

From safety, the nervous system reorganizes. From regulation, healing unfolds.

This work is subtle but powerful. Rather than trying to “fix” symptoms, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy helps restore a felt sense of safety in the body. If you’re looking for gentle, nervous-system-centred support for yourself or your baby, this work offers a deeply restorative place to begin.
